DEAR JOE KERNEN: the rest of the world now knows what I knew all along

I knew Joe Kernen was an ignorant idiot already, because he's always trying to inject Republican party echo-chamber talking points into serious discussion at CNBC. God knows why Becky or Andrew haven't yet beaten him to death on camera with his own shoes.

But now the rest of the world knows too:

Irish Times - Joe Kernen is an ignorant idiot. Quote:

In a bizarre prime time interview Mr Shanahan, who leads the successful foreign direct investment agency, reveals that Ireland uses the Euro.

This claim is met with incredulity by Joe Kernen, a co-anchor of “Squawk Box,” who initially insists that Ireland uses sterling, before being repeatedly corrected by Mr Shanahan.

In an increasingly strange interview Kernan also expresses surprise that Ireland is not part of Britain and is in fact a different island.

My god.

I could understand if some ignorant trailer-park hobo from Kentucky didn't know what currency Ireland uses, or that it's not part of England. But a host on CNBC?

It is even more silly when you read the transcript:

The ignorant Joe Kernen: You have pounds anyway don’t you still?

Shanahan: We have Euros.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: You have Euros in Ireland?

Shanahan: Yes. We have euros, which is eh...

The ignorant Joe Kernen: Why do you have euros in Ireland?

Shanahan: A strong recovery....

The ignorant Joe Kernen: Why do use euros in Ireland?

Shanahan: Why wouldn’t we have euros in Ireland?

The ignorant Joe Kernen: Huh. I’d use the pound.

Shanahan: We use euro.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: What about Scotland? I was using Scottish eh...

Shanahan: Scottish pounds.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: Scottish pounds.

Shanahan: They use Sterling.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: They use sterling?

Shanahan: They use sterling. But we use euro.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: What? Why would you do that?

Shanahan: Why wouldn’t we do that.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: Why didn’t Scotland? No wander they wanted to break away.

Shanahan: They are part of the UK we are not.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: Aren’t you right next to er?

Shanahan: We are very close but entirely separate.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: It is sort of the same, same island isn’t it?

Shanahan: And in the North of Ireland they have sterling.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: They do?

Shanahan: And in the North of Ireland they use sterling.

The ignorant Joe Kernen: It is just too confusing...

My god. Kernen really does think Ireland is part of England and uses the Pound.

Dear human resources department at CNBC: tell Kernen to quit surfing the and Washington Times websites all day, and start doing some real work for once. This arrogant idiot is coasting, and by his own Republican logic he should be fired and go off to live under a bridge for being a lazy uneducated fool.

Better yet, just fire the clown. He's worthless. He is not contributing any value to the show, and he has now begun turning your network into a world-renowned laughing stock.

I'm sure you could pick up Paul Kangas for a song. Yes he's old, but he would never confuse Ireland with England. Then maybe there would be a reason to watch CNBC again.

Alternately, let Andrew Ross Sorkin know that you'll happily provide an alibi if he just happens to, y'know, entirely accidentally not on purpose run over Joe Kernen in the parking lot or something.
